When to go

Spring
March and April are warm across the country. On the coast, conditions suit diving with good visibility; inland at the Nile sites, mornings stay pleasant before the afternoon heat builds.
Summer
June to August, inland heat is severe, especially at the Nile Valley sites, and best avoided for anything but early mornings and evenings. On the Red Sea coast, time spent in and on the water makes the same heat easier to manage.
Autumn
September and October cool gradually from summer's peak. The coast keeps warm water and eases into quieter conditions; inland at the Nile sites, the heat drops into a comfortable stretch for sightseeing.
Winter
December to February is the most comfortable season at the Nile sites for a full day of sightseeing, and on the coast the sea stays warm enough for diving even as air temperatures turn mild rather than hot.
