When to go

Spring
One of the best times to travel: mild in Amman, warming nicely at Petra and Wadi Rum, before summer heat sets in properly.
Summer
Hot and dry, and considerably more intense at lower-elevation sites than in Amman itself — the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum can be genuinely punishing by midday, so early starts matter.
Autumn
Warm and settling from September, with an appeal similar to spring as the heat eases.
Winter
Amman sits high enough to turn genuinely cold and occasionally see snow, while the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum, both far lower in elevation, stay much milder — worth planning for both temperatures on the same trip.
