When to go

Spring: Mild and often mixed, with canal-side cafés and harbour baths reopening through April and May before the summer crowds arrive.
Summer: Copenhagen's warmest, busiest months, with long evenings, harbour swimming and outdoor dining across the city.
Autumn: Cooler and quieter from September, with cycling still comfortable and the canals at their calmest.
Winter: Genuinely cold and dark by December, with daylight down to around seven hours, but rarely deep-freezing. Cycling and canal-side life continue much as normal rather than retreating fully indoors, and hygge — candlelit cafés, comfort food — is a real, practical response to short days.

Getting around
