- Warm, mostly dry days without summer's extreme heat make this one of the more comfortable times to walk the medina and gardens.

- Daytime heat regularly climbs well past what is comfortable for walking, so summer visits work best around early mornings and evenings rather than full days outdoors.
- Autumn
- Temperatures ease back down from summer's peak, making this, alongside spring, one of the more comfortable stretches of the year for sightseeing on foot.
- Winter
- Days are usually mild and sunny, though nights turn genuinely cold, so evenings need proper layers despite the daytime warmth.

- The medina's souks, squares and riads sit within the old walls, giving the centre a distinct, dense character built for walking rather than driving.
- Gardens such as the Menara basin offer open, quiet space close to the city, a contrast to the medina's narrow lanes.
- It works as a base for day trips toward the Atlas Mountains, adding mountain scenery to a trip built mostly around the city.
- Jardin Majorelle, bought by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé in 1980 to save it from hotel developers, is one of five sights Morocco's national tourist office lists as most popular in Marrakech.
Worth knowing
- Summer heat can make full days of walking uncomfortable, and the mid-year months are best avoided or planned around the cooler parts of the day.
- The medina's narrow, crowded lanes and inconsistent signage make it easy to lose orientation, and some riads are only reachable on foot rather than by car.
- Winter nights are cold enough to need proper layers, which can surprise visitors focused only on the daytime warmth.
- Jardin Majorelle tickets can only be bought online, and the garden advises booking well in advance to secure a date and time.
