- LaraSandy-beach district close to the airport, suited to families and frequent flyers wanting resort stays and gentle sea access.
- KonyaaltıPebbly beach area backed by mountains, popular with tourists and long-term residents preferring a more local feel.
- Kaleiçi (Old Town)Historic centre with narrow streets and harbour views, best for those prioritising atmosphere over direct beach access.

What each season is like
- Spring
- Pleasant for combining city and coast; some resort facilities still ramping up, but sea generally usable for many visitors.
- Summer
- Peak heat and strong sun, with busy beaches and resort strips; old town can feel crowded during cruise and tour days.
- Autumn
- Often good for warm sea with slightly fewer families; some resorts start to scale back towards the end of the season.
- Winter
- Much quieter; many beach-oriented services reduce operations, but city areas continue functioning for local life.

Good to know about Antalya
Why go
- Offers a mix of beach districts and a historic centre that resort-only towns along the coast lack.
- Better transport and service base than smaller nearby resorts for exploring the wider Riviera.
- Choice between sandy Lara and pebbly Konyaaltı beaches gives flexibility on beach style.
- Two major Roman-era sites are close to the city: Perge, 17 km east of the centre, and Aspendos, whose theatre seated about 15,000 people. Both keep long opening hours from May to the start of October, which leaves room to visit early or late rather than in the midday heat.
Worth knowing
- Resort districts can feel very focused on packaged tourism, which may not suit visitors seeking quieter local life.
- Summer heat and sun exposure are intense on beaches and streets, making midday activity challenging.
- Some areas are heavily car-oriented, so walking between districts is less practical than in compact cities.
- Termessos is a different kind of outing: the ancient city sits about 1,050 metres up in the mountains north of Antalya, inside the Güllük Dağı–Termessos National Park.
