Worth knowing
- High risk of pickpocketing in crowded central areas such as Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter and busy metro lines.
- Summer can feel airless and heavily touristed, with August the hottest and most crowded month to be in the city.
- Urban beach at Barceloneta is lively and built-up rather than remote, so sea and sand rarely feel secluded.
- Park Güell's monumental zone needs a ticket bought online in advance, but that regulated area is only a small part of the park; the rest is nature and leisure space with free access for everyone.
