Why go
- Offers far more nightlife and late-evening activity than Sliema or Valletta, centred on Paceville.
- Stays here feel more like a holiday town than the working-city atmosphere of Sliema.
- Central on Malta's north-east coast, making bus connections to beaches and the capital straightforward.
- Malta is small enough that most of the island works as a day trip from here: the 13A bus runs into Valletta, and buses 50, 51, 52, 53 and 56 continue from the Valletta terminus to Mdina and Rabat.
- For Gozo, route 222 from neighbouring Sliema reaches the Cirkewwa ferry, which the operator runs to Mgarr around the clock all year, weather and operating conditions permitting.
Worth knowing
- Nightlife-heavy streets around Paceville can be noisy and crowded late into the night, which does not suit light sleepers.
- Rocky shoreline offers limited sandy beach compared with northern resorts.
- Traffic and parking can be challenging at peak times due to the concentration of hotels and bars.
